That time of year

Tomorrow I have to do my taxes.  The deadline is Friday and apparently it is a doddle, except that my IRP5 seems to have disappeared.  It’s somewhere in this office, so I should be able to find it…

I listened to Obama’s inaugural speech today.  Any comparison with the last 8 years’ speeches can only lead to unkindnesses, so I won’t say anything except that he is an excellent speaker.  As far as the content is concerned, I found it inspiring.  It could have sounded grandiose and unrealistic, but to me the overwhelming tone was one of sincerity.  Textbook leadership.  Will it work?  It is hard to reconcile his “call to service” with American consumerism.  It seems that the last 8 years have turned me into a cynic.  That makes me a little sad.  Obama probably faces the same challenge with many of the American people.

At least he has inspired or induced me to write the paragraph above.  I wonder how many blog postings over the last two years have dealt with Obama and in particular, how many extra Obama blog posting are made today?  One could probably get an approximate answer from a blog search engine.
