Strange Saturday

I wish I had accomplished more today, but all-in-all it was not too bad.  I did sleep in until 12:00, which is a good thing for me.  I do not understand how it works, but my body seems to recognize that it is the weekend, and gets as much sleep as it can.  This is probably psychological, I doubt if our pre-mammalian brain knows about the 7-day week.

First thing I did when I got to the office was to re-instate my home directory in the new Ubuntu installation on heep, my Stellenbosch University laptop.  Had a few problems figuring out how to copy the file back from ilves to heep using nc, but in the end it turned out to be easy.  Nothing special required, except the knowledge that Apple BSD likes to be on the receiving end of netcat’s.

After that it was surfing the web and chatting to Sami, while what I like to call me subconscious figured out how to organize the counterexample research that I’m doing with Henri.  I find writing programs and running experiments quite easy, but it is much more difficult to decide how a package should be organized.  Difficult for a perfectionist.  There is a fine balance between making it perfect (which can take forever) and getting it right enough (which can save time in the long run and make the work pay for itself in the future).  But I think I’ve sorted it out and also figured out why some of the experiments were yielding strange results.  New experiments are now running.
